The Smell of Victory, Part 2

and this time it did not smell so darn bad.  The weather was fanstatic, and I had better shoes.  Last year, The BFF and I signed up for our first charitable run/walk and we did the Austin-American Statesman, Capital 10K.  We trained … if you call walking 4-8 miles each weekend training … and we kicked ass walking in the rain.cap10-logo

This year, The BFF has moved on, but, I vowed to do the 10K again this year – actually, we said we were going to train and move up a bracket.  I failed on that front, but, I did do the walk again.  I have been horrible at anything that even remotely resembles fitness or exercise.  So, I was a little worried when I signed up.  WTH said she would go with me, and then at the last minute, she had the opportunity to visit one of the schools in the running for her – so she ducked out.  Lucky for me, Mag had also said he’d accompany me.  We headed out and my only goal was to finish in better time than last year.  Granted, this year was not raining, but – I was in better shape last year.

We did it!  We finished in 1 hour and 44 minutes.  WOOOOT.  We have another 10K slotted for April 25th.  And, we said we are going to be better about exercising.

(I think I have said that a lot on here … do you see a pattern?)

Although I felt super successful and happy, I did miss having The BFF there to relive the memory.

  1. I keep up with your blog every day and I’m proud of you for walking in the 10K again. I think about you so much, especially when I put on last year’s Cap 10K t-shirt, as well as the croc run, and dog walk. I keep you locked away in my heart. Love and miss you.

  2. Thanks for keeping up with the blog. I was shocked to see a comment from you. The walk was good, although I was sad to revisit that anniversary without you.
